LUSHGRASS is the translated meaning of the character "Wei" of Shao Wei Liu. There are thousands of Chinese characters that are pronounced "Wei" and all refer to different things. When Shao Wei was born her scientist parents named her "Wei", which meant "satellite", to celebrate the first launched Sputnik of Russia. She used to think that "Wei" looked drab and sounded funny. So the first thing she did, after reaching the rebellious teens, was to change the character of her "Wei". With teacher Zhou's help, who taught her Chinese brush painting and poetry, Shao Wei found a very rare and pretty "Wei" in "300 Chinese Classic Poetry Collection", which means "The Grass is Lush". Here on the right She reproduced Mr. Zhou's calligraphy of her name and his seal. | ![]() |
